SALEM, Va. -- The Bridgewater College men's lacrosse team traveled to Roanoke for ODAC play, falling 24-6 on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Maroons, who are receiving votes in the latest national rankings by the USILA, started the game with a goal from Luke Kammerman to take an early 1-0 lead. Trevor McClelelland tied the contest with an assist from Drew Huber at the 12:13 mark as the game was knotted at 1-1. Three minutes later, Roanoke began as scoring run of five goals in seven minutes to jump ahead 6-1. Ryan Addison ended the scoring drought for the Eagles with a heave from his own defensive third into an open cage to make the score 6-2 with two minutes left in the opening quarter. The Maroons got one more on the board in the waning seconds of the first as Sean Kennedy scored with 20 seconds to go in the period as the home side was up 7-2 after 15 minutes.
- The first five goals of the second quarter went the way of the Maroons as they opened up a 12-2 advantage before McClelland got his second of the game after taking a pass from Luke Wendler to nudge the Eagles to within nine goals at 12-3 with 6:19 left in the first half. Roanoke struck for two more goals before Riley Stewart got one back for BC, but another goal in the last seconds of the quarter gave Roanoke a 15-4 lead at the break.
- The third quarter was all Roanoke as the home team outscored the Eagles 7-0 through the 15 minute period. Roanoke started the fourth quarter with two more goals to take a 24-4 lead with 4:31 left in the game. Bridgewater struck for two goals in the final minutes as Ryan Linn and Huber each scored to get to the 26-4 final score.
GAME STATS
- McClelland led the way with a pair of goals, while Addison, Huber, Stewart and Linn also scored in the loss.
- Huber, Stewart, Linn and Wendler were all credited with one assist each.
- Gabriel Alexander finished 15-for-31 at the faceoff X and picked up nine ground balls. He crosses the 500 ground ball mark for his career and extends his program career and single-season record for the statistic.
- Grant Heidebrecht grabbed four ground balls of his own, while Jackson Wicker scooped up three and Addison snagged two GBs.
- Heidebrecht, Addison, Huber, Wendler, CJ McKnight, Liam Santilli and Clay Lawrence all caused one turnover apiece.
- Gabe Wallman played the first three quarters and was called on to make a career-high 20 saves in the loss, while Zach Guthrie-Pimpinella played the fourth quarter and stopped five shots.Â
- Roanoke out shot Bridgewater 74-34 and had a 44-26 edge in ground balls.Â
