Five Eagles Named to CSC Academic All-District List

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Five members of the Bridgewater College tennis program were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District list announced by the association on Tuesday afternoon.

Matthew Leonard and Mark Gordon were named to the honor roll on the men's side, while Ryan Roeber, Emma Nesselrodt and Emily Wylie also made the list on the women's side.

In order to qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.50 cumulative GPA or higher while participating in at least 70% of the matches on the schedule and attending their respective institution for over a calendar year.

Leonard served as BC's No. 1 on the singles side for much of the season and tallied wins at both the top spot and No. 2 singles on the year. The Richmond, Va. native led the Eagles in doubles victories with seven in total including five at the No. 2 slot. Leonard boasts a 3.81 cumulative GPA as a business major.

Gordon earns a spot on the CSC Academic All-District list for the second straight season, much like his roommate Leonard. The junior from Waynesboro, Va. picked up singles wins at both the No. 2 and No. 3 spots this past season and saw action at the top spot in 12 matches this season in the doubles side of play. Gordon also moved into eighth in program history for wins as a doubles team with partner Gabe Elder earlier this season. Gordon has a 3.62 GPA as a business major.

Roeber tallied an 8-8 singles mark for BC this season including six victories at the No. 3 spot. The senior from Warrenton, Va. added seven victories with Wylie at the No. 2 slot this season and finished her career ranking eighth in program history with 35 singles wins to her credit. Roeber wraps up with a 3.94 GPA as an art major.

Nesselrodt competed at the top spot for the Eagles all season long and tallied nine wins on the campaign in singles play, the most by an Eagle since 2021. The fifth-year senior from Mt. Crawford, Va. also earned 10 doubles wins on the season with nine of those coming at the top spot. Nesselrodt finishes her undergraduate career with a 3.91 GPA as biochemistry major.

Wylie was a mainstay in the ladder throughout her senior year seeing action at both No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Wylie totaled five victories on the season in singles play and combined that with seven victories in doubles play for the second consecutive season. The Elkton, Va. resident concludes her time at BC with a 3.86 GPA.

All five of these Eagles earn their second consecutive Academic All-District honor and it marks the second straight season where the program has had multiple selections on both the men's and women's sides.
