How It Happened
  • Neither side could gain separation early in the opening set. BC slowly worked out to a 10-7thanks to a flurry of errors by EMU. The Royals pulled back to even and the teams traded points before another pair of attack errors by the Royals gave BC an 18-16 edge on Jillian Levin's serve. EMU got the service break, but three more attack errors gave the Eagles the momentum and the lead back at 21-17. EMU regrouped before a Meyers kills followed by one from Regan Stoop to give BC set points. EMU fought off the first, but a kill from Gabby Atwell gave Bridgewater the opening set at 25-20.
  • The second set started tight until a few EMU errors and a Stoop kill sparked a 6-0 BC run fueled by three service aces from Stoop. A Faith DePew kill polished it off at a 13-5 lead. EMU tried to close in, but could not get much going as a kill from Claire Griffith gave the Eagles a two-set lead after a 25-11 victory in set number two.
  • The Eagles opened with the first three points in set three before EMU closed back in. The Royals took a 6-5 lead momentarily before a kill from Stoop sparked a four-point run as a Faith Shields ace made it 9-6. The Royals drew back even at 10-10, but BC took over and stretched out to a 14-11 lead after a kill from Meyers. EMU got back to within a pair of points before BC stretched out to a 20-15 lead after an EMU error. The Royals took a timeout and tried to swing the momentum but kills from Meyers and DePew polished off the win at 25-19.

  • Denby and Stocker led EMU with six kills each. Black's 19 digs were a game high.
