Eight Women's Soccer Players Earn a Spot on All-ODAC Teams

FOREST, Va. - Eight players of the Bridgewater College women's soccer team earned a spot on the All-ODAC listings announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.

Lyric Birkley, Laura Narby, Katherine King, and Sienna Smith all earned first-team honors. Anna Belan and Erinn Lockard made the second team. Kendall Garza and Cassandra Villafan made the third team.

Birkley put up a record-breaking performance this season on the offensive end. The Milford, Oh. native scored 38 points, the third-most in a single season in program history. She also recorded 14 assists, a conference best, and a single-season program record. This season, Birkley broke the career points and assists records, and currently sits second in program history for goals. Birkley returns to the All-ODAC first team after earning the honor last season.

Narby led the team in goals with 14, tied for second in the conference, and the third best in a single season in program history. She is credited with seven game-winning goals this season, the best in the conference. Narby was a member of the All-ODAC third team last season.

King started in all 20 matches this season. The junior midfielder recorded five goals and three assists on the season. King was a member of the All-ODAC second team last season.

Smith earned her first All-ODAC honor of her collegiate career. The sophomore defender played and started in 18 contests, and was an instrumental piece in the BC defense this season.

Belan, another key piece in the Eagles defense, played in all 20 contests and started in 18. The Elkins, W. Va. native scored her first career goal in the 2--0 win over Marietta at the beginning of the season.

Lockard adds another accolade to an already impressive freshman campaign. The three time ODAC defensive player of the week winner was the first Eagle to win the honor thrice. The Vienna, Va. native boasts the third highest goals against average in the ODAC (.960). Lockard also recorded 67 saves this season, and has the fourth highest save percentage in the league.

Garza started in all 20 contests this season. One of the three team captains, Garza was instrumental in the success of the team in the late stages of the regular season and in postseason play. Garza recorded 11 goals and 4 assists this season, and earned ODAC offensive player of the week once.

Villafan also earned the first All-ODAC honor of her collegiate career. The sophomore midfielder had eight assists this season, tied for the fifth most in the conference. 

The Eagles will travel to Cleveland, Oh. to compete in the NCAA tournament. They face Swarthmore in the first round on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 8 p.m.
