FOREST, Va. - Jay Garcia of the Bridgewater College women's basketball team has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's Player of the Week.

The Harrisonburg native opened the week and the season with with a 10 point, 12 rebound double-double ahainst Mary Baldwin and backed it up over the weekend. Garcia grabbed 10 boards to go along with 11 points as the Eagles knocked off No. 20 CNU and grabbed nine rebounds on SUnday in a loss to No. 19 Catholic. 

Garcia also registered 12 assists in three games on the week, but her defense was the focal point. The senior averaged 10.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game in the opening week of the season to earn the conference's defensive player of the week honor.

The Eagles conclude a four-game homestand as they host Stevenson on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
