GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Bridgewater College men's lacrosse team fell to Guilford 7-5 on Saturday in ODAC action.

How It Happened
- Guilford got on the board first under a minute in after a BC turnover. GC wasted no time and went ahead 1-0. BC had a man-up chance shortly after, but failed to get a shot on goal. Both sides traded chances, with saves by Gabe Wallman keeping the Eagles within striking distance. A turnover by the Eagles in their own end gave Guilford its second score of the afternoon as Bashwyn Fitch tallied his second goal of the frame to make it 2-0. BC struck back in a big way thanks to three goals in under two minutes. Issac Beals registered the first of the trio on an assist by Tyler Pinto and the rookie followed it up 30 seconds later on the man advantage as he and Ryan Linn combined to tie the game. Killian Krapfl kept the momentum rolling with a win at the faceoff dot and Jake Wagner followed with a tally to give BC a 3-2 lead after the opening 15 minutes.
- The Eagles kept the ball rolling to start the second as Owen Cogan found the back of the net to make it 4-2just over a minute into the frame. Both squads had chances throughout the second quarter, but the goalies and defense did their jobs up until 92 seconds to go in the half as Guilford cut the lead in half after a BC turnover off of a timeout. BC had the last chance of the quarter, but Linn's shot struck the post to send it to the break at a 4-2 BC edge.
- Guilford won the opening faceoff of the second half and tied the game immediately as Seth Woods leveled the score at 4-4. BC stepped back in front just over two minutes later as Cogan struck again to make it 5-4. The Quakers had a response with 7:08 to play to draw back even at 5-5 and kept momentum in their direction. Cogan's attempt at the hat trick was turned away and GC flipped the field and took the lead as Davis Palombo made it 6-5 for the home team with 6:12 on the clock in the third. BC had multiple good looks to tie the game in the third, but saves by the GC net-minder kept the home team in front heading to the fourth.
- The home team started the fourth with a man-up chance, but BC fended it off. Noth squads had chances to score including lots of great looks for BC including a shot by Wagner that was turned away by Darius Safafi-Abbassi. Both teams played a man down with under two minutes to play and BC got the ball in the offensive end with 1:26 to play. Out of a timeout, the Eagles looked to work for the equalizer, but a turnover and an insurance goal sealed the deal for the Quakers.
Match Notes
- Beals and Cogan led the BC offense with two goals each. Four different Eagles caused a pair of turnovers to help the cause defensively, while Wallman made eight saves.
- Palombo had a hat trick for the Quakers to fuel the comeback in the second half. Safafi-Abbassi was the difference maker for GC with 18 saves.
- Bridgewater led the shot battle 41-30 as the two sides committed the same number of turnovers.
