NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Bridgewater men's cross-country team competed in the CNU Invitational Friday afternoon. This was the first full-distance race of the season for the Eagles.
Senior Gabe Miller was the first of the Bridgewater finishers. He finished eighth, clocking a time of 26:50.85. The Covington, Va. senior improved his time from the 2024 CNU Invitational by 21 seconds.
Gavin Diehl finished 24th with a time of 28:12.35. Freshman Grayson Jacquez ran the 8k in 28:36.23, good for 29
th in the finishing order. Ryder Rose and
Malakai Wettig rounded out the top five finishers for BC with a 33
rd and 34th place finish, respectively. The two finished a second apart from each other, around the 28:58 mark.
Chris Layne and Brandon Adamson also finished back-to-back, finishing 44
th and 45th, respectively. Layne posted a 29:39.6, while Adamson posted a 29:43.10.
Aiden Dumas finished 61
st with a time of 32:59.41 to round out the Bridgewater entries.
Bridgewater's top five finishers combined for a score of 93, good for third place in the meet. The Eagles finished above Division II and Division I institutions, and were topped only by CNU and Salisbury, two teams that were ranked in their respective regions in the USTFCCCA preseason poll.
The Eagles return to the nest on Saturday, Sept. 20 to compete in the Bridgewater Cross Country Invitational. The men's 8k is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
