NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Bridgewater women's cross-country team competed in the CNU Invitational Friday afternoon. This was the first full-distance race of the season for the Eagles.
Freshman Olivia Morra was the first of Bridgewater finishers in the women's 6k. The Spotsylvania, Va. Native finished 19
th, posting a time of 24:20.52 in the first full-distance race of her collegiate career.
Regan Robinson finished in 27
th, posting a time of 24:56.59.
Paige Hiserman and
Annah Wood crossed the finish line together at around the 25:53 mark, scoring in 39
th and 40th, respectively. Molly Williamson rounded out the scoring five for Bridgewater with a 44th place finish, clocking a 26:01.77. Hannah Knudson finished in 81
st with a time of 32:09.13.
Bridgewater's top five finishers combined for a score of 152, good for fifth place in the meet. The hosting CNU won the event with a team score of 37. VCU, a Division I program, finished second with a team score of 44. Salisbury, ranked fifth in the Mid-Atlantic region in the USTFCCCA preseason poll, placed third. Division I Hampton scored 108, finishing one slot above the Eagles.
The Eagles return to the nest on Saturday, Sept. 20 to compete in the Bridgewater Cross Country Invitational. The women's 6k is slated to begin at 10:50 a.m.
