Box Score BUENA VISTA, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's tennis team opened a new chapter with a 6-1 loss at Southern Virginia on Monday afternoon.
SVU swept the doubles action on the way to the doubles point. BC's best fight came at the top spot as
Sarah Slagle and
Kira Doyne fell in a tight 4-6 battle.
There were tight matches scattered throughout singles play including good battles at the top two spots. Slagle fell at the top spot 3-6, 1-6, while
Jolexie Whetzel fell in a close 4-6, 3-6 match.
Reagan Witt got the Eagles on the board as the last match on. The rookie from New Jersey won the opening set 6-3, but dropped the second 3-6 so send the match at No. 5 the distance. Witt rallied in the match tiebreak as she garnered her first collegiate victory with a 10-6 win in the breaker.
The Eagles are back in action this weekend in Fredericksburg at the ITA Southeast Regional.Â
