How It Happened
  •  Bridgewater got on the board after winning the tip as Asia Williams found the ODAC's leading scorer, Riley Corcoran, for a layup. Roanoke took the lead after a long-range make, but another Corcoran score put BC back in front. Garcia followed that up to make it 6-4, but a five-point Roanoke swing put the Maroons back in front. The two sides traded buckets down the stretch in the opening frame, but a three-pointer by the Maroons gave the home team a slight 15-14 lead after the opening 10 minutes.
  • Abbie Baker got the scoring started in the second frame on a dish from Aylin Humpherys to take the lead back, and a Polston layup stretched the advantage to 18-15 for the Eagles. Roanoke replied, but a three-pointer from Williams stretched the gap farther. Roanoke responded again with a five-point swing to wrestle the lead back at 22-21, but an Angelina Yann deep-range make sparked a 13-0 Eagles run with contributions from Corcoran, Garcia and Humpherys. The Bridgewater defense went to work during the run, as RC was held without a make from the floor for nearly five minutes. Roanoke ended the drought with a layup in the final minute of the period, and put together another five-point swing to make it s 34-29 Eagles' lead at the break.
  • Polston got the scoring started nearly two minutes into the second half with a pair of makes at the charity stripe. Roanoke responded with a pair of makes from behind the arc to pull within a point, but a Humpherys bucket and an old-school three-point play from Polston stretched the Eagles' lead once again.  The sides traded scores until the final two minutes of the stanza. Autumn Gentry nailed a three-pointer and sparked a 9-1 Eagles' run to close the frame, led by four points from Humpherys. The junior's three-pointer in the final minutes made it 54-43 heading to the fourth quarter.
  •  Corcoran drained a three-pointer on a dish from Polston to open the fourth frame, and Polston followed with three points of her own before Roanoke replied. The Maroons put together another five-point swing, but a three-pointer from Gentry stifled the momentum. RC made a bucket on the other end, but Garcia drained a three-pointer for the Eagles on a dish from Corcora. Garcia followed with another score on a helper from Corcoran to swell the advantage to 68-50 with under five minutes to play. Roanoke drained a three-pointer of its own, but then both teams went ice cold from the floor for the final 4:19. a Jumper by Garcia was the only score in the span of time to seal the deal.
Match Notes,
  • Big nights from Corcoran and Garcia fueled the victory. Corcoran added to her league-leading scoring average with 21 points on an effective 8-of-11 from the floor. Garcia tossed in a season-high 17 points and 13 rebounds for the 12th double-double of her career. Garcia also recorded three blocks, the most by an Eagle in a single game this season.
  • Farmer led Roanoke with 16 points, including three makes from deep. RC was 52.6% (10/19) from beyond the arc to fuel the attack.
  • While Roanoke lit up the shot chart from deep, BC locked the Maroons down in the painted area. Roanoke was just 9-for-35 (25.7%) on two-point field goals, compared to BC's 46.3%. BC won the rebounding battle 38-30and held a 16-2 edge in points off turnovers to claim the win.
