BRIDGEWATER, Va. -
Baylor Jones of the Bridgewater College football team has been named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week after his efforts in Saturday's thrilling victory over Washington and Lee.
Jones had three tackles on the day from his defensive tackle spot, but the biggest impact of the day from him came late in the first half. WLU was driving down the field and went for it on fourth down in no man's land. The Generals' quarterback was flushed out of the pocket and threw the ball right into the hands of Jones in the backfield. The junior from Ashland, Va., took off and returned the interception 61 yards as he was dragged down from behind at the one-yard line. His takeaway led to BC's second score of the day in the final minutes of the opening half as the Eagles tied the game 14-14 heading to the intermission.
Bridgewater is back in action on Saturday as it hosts Shenandoah at 2 p.m. on Homecoming.
