How It Happened
- Bridgewater got on the board first as Jay Garcia finished in the lane on a dish from Asia Williams. WLU struck back with a second-chance effort from beyond the arc to take the lead and made it seven-straight points to take a 7-2 lead. Willimas got BC back on the board, but it was seven more points in succession from the Generals to take a 14-4 lead. Garcia and Angelina Yann scored on back-to-back trips for the Eagles, but an 8-1 run by WLU in response made it a 22-9 lead for the No. 4 team in the land after the opening 10 minutes.
- The Generals knocked down a three-pointer to open the second quarter, but the Eagles got some momentum going with back-to-back buckets from Garcia and Jaiden Polston. Schleusner replied for the Generals with a score in the paint to push the lead to 27-13. Neither side found nylon for nearly four minutes until Garcia finished inside and was fouled. She missed the and-one chance, and WLU pulled away. The Generals closed the final three minutes of the half on a 9-0 scoring run to make it 36-15 in their favor at the intermission.
- Garcia scored on BC's first possession of the second half and followed it up with another score on the next BC trip down the floor. Washington and Lee finally got on the board in the second half after two minute went by in the period and the teams traded buckets with Aylin Humpheries getting the last laugh for the Eagles with a three-pointer to cut the lead to 41-26 midway through the quarter. WLU stopped the short-lived momentum with another 7-0 scoring run, before a Garcia bucket stopped it. The Generals regrouped with eight more points in succession to close out the frame. The Generals' lead swelled to 56-28 heading to the fourth quarter.
- WLU struck first in the fourth quarter, but a make at the free throw line by Riley Corcoran and a Polston score put the Eagles in business. Neither side found success offensively for the next three minutes before the Generals made a pair of free throws, but Angelina Yann drained a three-pointer in response. The two sides traded scores again, and another Polston bucket gave the Eagles the upper hand in the exchange. WLU closed the contest with a short 5-0 scoring run to seal the deal and lock up the top seed in the upcoming ODAC Tournament.
