THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Bridgewater College baseball took both games in the twin bill against nationally recognized Cal Lutheran on the first day of competition on spring break Saturday afternoon.
The Bridgewater College Eagles (BC) extended their perfect record to 10-0 this season, and the Cal Lutheran Regals (CLU) have dropped to 8-3. In the first game, the Eagles won 8-6 and turned in another strong outing in the second game by a final score of 10-5.

In the fifth inning, CLU surged ahead to put up a pair of runs with another RBI single and an RBI on a hit-by-pitch. BC found a way to answer back again and this time, boosted its first lead of the game with the help of five runs. Ashton Smith knocked a drilled single in the infield to score Zack Chadwell. With bases loaded, Jake Harris worked a walk to bring home Trent Holland. The Eagles added more offense as Chandler Valbak ripped a single to send home Smith. Stavros earned his base with a walk to score Bryce Suters, and Hensley topped the inning off with his second RBI to send home Harris.
Game 2

The Eagles took charge right out of the gate, exploding offensively giving the Regals a hard time getting comfortable. BC never looked back and never gave up the lead from the first inning. BC piled on six runs to start the game beginning with a bases loaded walk from Jakson Walter. Bryce Suters also walked to land a second run on the board. Spencer Sigmon stepped up to the plate and smacked a double down the right field line to score Walter and Trent Holland. At 4-0, BC continued to fire away as Chandler Valbak cleared the bases on a two-run single.

Cal Lutheran (CLU) found itself in a hole already after the first inning and managed to pull together a run to attempt a comeback. Lucas Cash got out of the jam and avoided trouble. Then, in the second inning, Zack Chadwell launched his fourth home run of the season over the right field wall, pushing the lead to a strong 7-1 advantage.

Jakson Walter added an insurance run with a sac bunt to score Hensley in the eighth. CLU landed another run late in the game, but the damage was already done, and the Eagles secured the victory by a final score of 10-5 in a shortened eight-inning contest due to darkness.
