How It Happened

Match 1

The Cougars got the edge later at 10-5 with a four-point run. Aiden Weaver fired away three kills in four points to drop the deficit to one point. The Cougars clipped the Eagles in the first set, 25-21.

  • In the second set, the Cougars struck first, but this time the Eagles surged ahead. BC pieced together short offensive bursts in quick stride to separate themselves from the conference opponent. Corbin Green lit a consecutive run of three points with a kill to lunge out to a 13-9 advantage. Then, Weaver and Connor Cayer nailed the second set in powerful duo fashion with four combined kills in the final five points to grab a 25-22 win.

  • BC did not hesitate in the third set, boosting a four-point run early. However, the Cougars rallied back and responded with a five-point scoring run. AU held the lead from there despite a rallied effort from broken up offensive attacks by the opposition. BC fell closely behind as AU took the third set, 25-20.

  • In the fourth set, both teams traded kills as well as three quick lead changes early. BC found an offensive opening and punched a four-point run to land a 14-7 lead. The offensive rhythm accelerated to a 17-9 advantage as Green and Isaiah White ignited an even further push. Green pounded the final kill to take a 25-19 lead.

  • The fifth set opened with a clear force of control by BC. AU ran into attack errors early, and the Eagles capitalized. White amped his offensive drive with three kills in the final four points. BC claimed victorious with a 15-10 deciding fifth set win.

Match 2

  • Both teams squared off with equal intensity. The Eagles established a five-point run setting the pace. The Owls came back with a rally to wither the deficit to two at 14-12 BC. The Owls sneaked in the first set gradually piecing together a rally and nailed a 26-24 score.

  • In the second set, the Eagles opened with a 6-0 score. Jeffrey Prevost and Aiden Weaver paired up with successful sequences. An added five-point scoring rally synced up to power an 11-1 advantage. The attack chances were diminished as the Eagles stayed in control the rest of the way. BC nailed a 25-10 set score.

  • BC weathered three straight points to start the second set with a boost of momentum in return. The Owls held still with a five-point run, but the Eagles did not go away. The Eagles pulled away late to take the set, 25-23.
