LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's lacrosse team dropped a match on the road against a nationally-ranked Lynchburg Saturday night. 

The Basics 

Score: Bridgewater 5, Lynchburg 26 

Records: Bridgewater (6-3, 0-2 ODAC), No. 3 Lynchburg (7-1, 2-0 ODAC) 

How it Happened 

• Bridgewater battled with the #3 team in the nation for most of the opening stanza. The Hornets scored a goal in the opening minute. Isaac Beals responded by finding the back of the net with 3:48 elapsed in the game on an assist from Riley Stewart. After two Lynchburg goals, Stewart connected with Luke Wendler to cut the Lynchburg lead to 3-2. With 1:26 remaining in the opening period, Tristan Lee found Luke Wendler on a man-up opportunity to keep it a one-score game. Lynchburg scored three goals in the final 32 seconds of action to put the Eagles in a four-point hole entering the first break. 

• Lynchburg caught fire in the second quarter. Jake Wagner scored the only BC unassisted goal of the game with 4:52 remaining in the first half.  

• Beals recorded his second goal of the game in the third quarter on a Gavin Brown assist. 

• Coach Mic Grant took Ian Cook out of the goal for the Eagles for the final period and subbed in Zach Guthrie-Pimpinella.  

Game Notes 

• Lynchburg out-shot Bridgewater 53-27.  

• Ian Cook recorded 12 saves in three quarters of action. Cook was also credited with four ground balls. 

• The Eagles were able to prevent Lynchburg from scoring in their only man-up opportunity of the contest. 

• Trent Ripley led the BC defense with four caused turnovers.
