BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's lacrosse team ended a two-game skid with a 10-5 victory over Shenandoah Wednesday afternoon. 

The Basics 

Score: Bridgewater 10, Shenandoah 5 

Records: Bridgewater (7-3, 1-2 ODAC), Shenandoah (2-8, 0-3 ODAC) 

How it Happened 

• After seven minutes of scoreless lacrosse to start the evening, Shenandoah got on the board first with an unassisted goal. Cooper Hann responded with a goal of his own with 4:43 remaining in the opening period to tie the score at one apiece. SU's Foughty scored his second goal of the quarter to put the Eagles in a 2-1 hole heading into the first break. 

• Bridgewater went on a 3-0 run to begin the second quarter. Luke Wendler found the back of the net on an assist from Jake Wagner with 8:03 remaining in the half. Isaac Beals and Ryan Linn scored unassisted over the next for minutes of game action. Shenandoah ripped one in the final seconds of the half to send the Hornets down 4-3 heading into the halftime break. 

• Following a Shenandoah goal with 1:09 elapsed in the second half, Bridgewater erupted for a 4-0 run over the the remainder of the third stanza and the beginning of the fourth. Beals scored his second goal of the meeting with 8:38 on the clock. Wagner and Wendler connected three minutes later to push the BC lead to two.  Shenandoah was charged with a penalty during the final minute of the quarter, gifting the Eagles a man-up opportunity for the opening seconds of the final period. 

• Beals capitalized on the remainder of the man-up opportunity in the opening seconds of the final frame to continue the BC offensive surge. After neither team finding the back of the net for four minutes, Wendler found Riley Stewart with 10:05 remaining in the contest to push the BC lead to four. Shenandoah scored their last goal of the period with 6:36 on the clock. Beals and Linn scored in the final 3:30 of action to give the Eagles a five point lead, their biggest of the contest. 

Game Notes 

• This was the first ODAC win of the season for Bridgewater, and it ended a two-game skid to start league play. Shenandoah moved to 0-3 in conference play this season. 

• After missing the last three contest, Killian Krapfl took his first reps at the dot. Krapfl went 1-2 in the faceoff circle.  

• Colt Short took the bulk of the faceoff reps for the Eagles, winning on seven of his 15 tries. Short also led the team in ground balls with five. 

• Isaac Beals led the Eagles in scoring with four points stemming from four goals. Wendler notched one goal and two assists for three points. Ryan Linn, Cooper Hann, and Jake Wagner recorded two points apiece. 

• Ian Cook is now 7-3 on the season in between the pipes for the Eagles. Cook was credited with a season high 16 saves. 

• Bridgewater improved to 10-5 in the series against Shenandoah. This was also the first home win for the Eagles against the Hornets since Apr. 2022.
