How It Happened
-
The opposing Eagles squad shut down the bats from the Bridgewater Eagles squad all afternoon. UMW's starting pitcher went deep into the matchup, going eight complete innings while facing two batters in the ninth to seal the shutdown win against the BC offense. The BC offense struggled to gain traction.
-
The UMW Eagles went up two more runs in the eighth inning, adding extra cushion to the small lead. A walk caused a run to score on bases loaded, and another run was added to the board on a throwing error in the infield. BC still could not get the bats working to get runs to score and were limited to just three hits in the game. The pitcher's duel went late into the game. BC threatened with two runners on base, but the UMW Eagles got out of the jam and closed out for the 3-0 shutout.
