BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's lacrosse team fell to Roanoke 19-7 in their final ODAC regular season contest of the season.

Despite winning the opening draw, Bridgewater was unable to rip the first shot attempt of the contest. Roanoke had the first two major offensive possessions of the game. The first one led to a shot attempt that was stopped by Maisen Jenkins. Bridgewater surrendered their first goal of the afternoon on a free position shot on the following RC possession. The Eagles were able to silence the Roanoke offense for a few minutes, but the Maroons caught fire in the final five minutes of the first period. The Maroons scored thrice in the final 4:59 of game action to enter the first break with a 4-0 advantage.

Despite being down a player from a yellow card in the final minute of the opening stanza, the Maroons struck first in the opening minute of the second period to increase their lead to five. Bridgewater got on the board with an Ella Price goal with 11:02 remaining in the first half. Roanoke bounced back by scoring two goals in 50 seconds of game actiion. The first came with 8:12 remaining in the quarter after the Maroons chucked their previous shot attempt wide. Roanoke capitalized on a free position seconds later to add another tally to the RC total. Paige Mayers logged her first of five goals of the contest with 3:56 remaining in the half while the Eagles were up two players. Roanoke ended the half with the momentum in their favor, scoring three goals to enter the halftime huddle with a 10-2 lead.

Bridgewater found their stride at the beginning of the second half, as they opened the half on a 3-0 run. Mayers was responsible for two of the three goals, while Kyla Fricks found Andrea Lorca for the other. Roanoke scored their first goal of the third period with 5:02 remaining in the period. After nearly three minutes of scoreless lacrosse, Mayers scored her fouth goal of the afternoon on an assist from Madelaine Godat. Roanoke found the back of the net twice in the final 68 seconds of action to end the third quarter with a 13-6 advantage.

After playing their final ODAC match of the season, the Eagles currently sit seventh in the ODAC standings with several teams still having a conference game left on their schedule. Bridgewater plays host to Mary Washington on Wednesday, Apr. 22 for their final regular season game. The game will be streamed live on FloCollege.
