Bridgewater came out firing on all cylinders, as they jumped to an early 3-0 lead against the nationally recognized Yellow Jackets. Shortly after a RMC turnover in the first minute of game action, Jake Wagner drew first blood on an assist from Isaac Beals. Over the next three minutes, both teams put a couple shots on target, but were unable to find the back of the net. Bridgewater scored their second goal of the competition with 10:04 left on the clock when Wagner connected with Riley Stewart. Colt Short added to the BC tally shortly after when he won the faceoff and scored unassisted. Randolph-Macon rebounded by scoring the next two goals. Wagner hit nylon for the second time in the contest to extend the BC lead back to two. Macon scored twice more, including a goal in the waning seconds of the opening stanza to send both teams into the break tied at four apiece.

45 seconds into the second quarter, Luke Wendler found the back of the net to give the Eagles the lead. Over the next few minutes, RMC ripped a few shot attempts but were unable to set the game back to a tie. Bridgewater was outscored 3-0 in the third quarter. Despite what the score showed, both the Eagles and the Yellow Jackets put four shots on target, and BC was a perfect five for five on clear attempts. RMC also recorded more turnovers in this period than Bridgewater.
