Women's Volleyball Faces Challenging Task Against No. 10 Juniata on the Road

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Bridgewater College women's volleyball faced No. 10 Juniata on the road and went down in three sets Friday night.

The Basics

Score: Juniata (JC) 3, Bridgewater (BC) 0

Records: BC (5-1), JC (3-1)

How It Happened

  • BC hung in with the nationally ranked opponent the whole way through, but JC found a way to create separation and land powerful enough scoring runs to surge ahead of the BC Eagles. In the opening set, JC found a groove in the middle of the first, laying down a steady four-point run for a 14-8 advantage. From there, the JC Eagles stormed by using a five-point run to close the set and take the first set, 25-13.

  • In the second set, JC began its scoring surge at the start with the help of a four-point run to earn a 5-1 lead. The Eagles could not maintain a comfortable position to take command of the set, while JC forced BC to take larger swings and longer rallies. Although the Eagles found a four-point run as Reagan Stoop and Maya Veselinovic paired up to fire away kills and cut the deficit to four at 21-17, JC sneaked by for a 25-18 second set score.

  • JC did not hesitate to get in the third set. The nationally ranked squad showed their forceful nature with a strong nine-point scoring burst. The scoring surge solidified a solid command of the set, and JC held on for a 25-17 final set score.

Match Notes

  • Bridgewater was held to a lower hitting percentage at .042 compared to a .258 for Juniata, respectively.

  • Reagan Stoop led the match with 12 digs. Stoop also collected eight kills.
