BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Brianna Jacques scored twice
while a trio of other Eagles found the back of the net as the
Bridgewater Eagles (7-4) field hockey team defeated visiting
Frostburg State by a 5-2 tally in out of conference action at Mapp
Field.
Jennifer Bateman got the Eagles on the board at the 19:30 mark
off of a penalty stroke to give BC a 1-0 lead.
Five minutes and 19 seconds later, Frostburg State would answer
with a Brandi Mixell goal to even things at one.
At the 27:14 mark, Jacques tallied her first goal of the game to
give Bridgewater a 2-1 lead, which is where things would remain as
the two teams headed to the locker room.
Three minutes and change into the second half, senior Christina
Pybus would give the Eagles an additional cushion when she netted
her first goal of the game to put BC up 3-1.
Just under ten minutes later, Rachael Keshishian would give the
Eagles a three goal cushion off of a pass from Kristen Combs to
give Bridgewater a 4-1 lead.
Sammy Statler would bridge the gap at the 63:24 mark to cut the
lead in half at a 4-2 advantage.
Bridgewater would find the net once more when Jacques netted her
second goal of the game to finalize the scoring at a 5-2 clip.
Elizabeth Sullivan picked up the win for the Eagles, allowing
two goals and turning away 11 other Frostburg State shots.
BC outshot FSU by a 31-23 margin.
Bridgewater is back in action on October 7 when the team travels
to Christopher Newport for a 5:00 p.m. contest
