BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Bridgewater College used an early 27-5 run to cruise to a 74-56 non-conference victory over the visiting Southern Virginia Knights at Nininger Hall.

Southern Virginia held an early 4-2 advantage before BC rattled off 25 of the game's next 26 points to take a 27-5 lead with 10:50 to play.

For the remaining 10 plus minutes, the two teams would remain relatively even before the Eagles took a 45-22 lead into the intermission.

Junior Jordan Burkholder buried all of her game-high 18 points in the first 20 minutes.
BC matched its highest lead of the ball game when a pair of Katelynn Hottinger free throws found cotton to start the second stanza, giving the Eagles a 25 point advantage.

Bridgewater's bench saw extensive action in the second half, with everyone on the Eagles squad seeing significant playing time as the Eagles cruised to a 74-56 victory over Southern Virginia.

Burkholder's 18 points led all scorers while senior Kristin Bosserman chipped in an additional 13 for the BC offense. Bosserman was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field, including a pair of treys.

On the glass, Burkholder pulled down a team-high eight boards, as the Eagles owned a 45-to-35 advantage on in the rebounding department.

Southern Virginia was led by a team-high 11 points from forward Jasmin Johnson. Johnson just missed the double-double as the forward pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.

Fast break points were a key to the game as the Eagles outpaced the Knights by an 18-5 tally on the break, while the Eagles bench also outscored Southern Virginia by a 39-21 margin.

Bridgewater was on fire from the field, connecting on 45% of its shots, while the Knights shot 34% for the game.

BC is back in action on Tuesday, January 26 when its hosts Virginia Wesleyan in the final game of a four- game homestand. Tip-off against the Marlins is slated for 7:00 p.m.
