LYNCHBURG, Va. - Shooting a dismal 20% from the field and trailing by 11, the Bridgewater Eagles (16-7, 12-6 ODAC) used a stellar defense to storm back and take the lead at 37-35 with under ten minutes left in the second half. Bridgewater eventually pulled away to defeat the Lynchburg Hornets by a 52-42 tally, forcing a season-high 32 turnovers in the process.

Offensively the Eagles struggled early, netting a season-low 16 points in the first half en route to a five-point halftime deficit.

Lynchburg (4-18, 3-14 ODAC) was able to establish an 11 point advantage early in the second frame, before a BC run gave the Eagles a slight 37-35 advantage with 8:47 remaining. During the run, Bridgewater forced 12 Hornet turnovers, which turned into 11 BC points.

Following a Lynchburg timeout, the Eagles kept the pedal to the metal before putting their lead to a then game-high five with six and change remaining off of a layup from junior Emileigh Lambert to build a 43-38 advantage.

With the game swinging to Bridgewater's favor, reigning ODAC Player of the Week Jordan Burkholder picked up her fourth foul of the game, putting the Eagles in a tough spot with just under six minutes to play.

BC built its lead to a game-high 11 points with under a minute left before prevailing by a 52-42 tally in ODAC play in Lynchburg.

Bridgewater's stingy defense baffled Lynchburg during the final stanza, forcing numerous Hornet miscues.

The win for Bridgewater was the team's fifth in a row and ninth victory in ten games.

BC was led offensively by a 19-point effort from Burkholder. Senior Kristin Bosserman chipped in 11 for the Eagles to post her third double-digit scoring effort in the last four games.

Bianca Booker led the Eagles on the glass with seven rebounds.

Lynchburg was led by an eight point performance from forward Tamara Snead. On the glass, forward Katie Crump led the way with a game-high 10 boards.

BC's defense forced a season-high 32 turnovers as they kept the Lynchburg offense off balance for the majority of the second half. Offensively, the Eagles had 14 miscues, which was a season-low for the squad.

After opening the game at an ice-cold 19% from the field, the Eagles eventually out-shot the Hornets by a 32%-to-31% margin from the field. BC was out-rebounded by a 44-to-39 tally.

Bridgewater is back in action on Friday, February 19, when the squad plays Hollins in the home season finale. The game also marks Senior Night for Bridgewater's lone senior, Kristin Bosserman. Tip-off from Nininger Hall is slated for 7:00 p.m.
