BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Freshman Jessica Mullen knocked in a career-high 19 points as the Bridgewater Eagles (17-7, 13-6 ODAC) used a stingy defense mixed with a potent offense to down visiting Hollins in the home finale by a 72-44 tally. The win for Bridgewater was the team's sixth in a row.

Hollins (2-22, 1-18 ODAC) struck first and kept the game close early until a Katelynn Hottinger layup kicked off a 16-0 Eagles run to give BC a 21-6 lead with 13:17 to play.

Following the Eagles spurt, Hollins made a strong run at Bridgewater, using a 10-0 burst over the next two and a half minutes to chip the BC lead down to 21-16 with 10 minutes left in the opening stanza.  

Bridgewater would finish the first half on a 27-9 run to take a 48-25 lead into the locker room.

Mullen and junior Jordan Burkholder lead the Eagles on the offensive end in the opening 20 minutes with a dozen points apiece. Bridgewater shot a blistering 53% from the field in the opening half.

Following the intermission, turnovers plagued both teams over the opening two and a half minutes of the second half until Hollins broke the early deadlock with a Brittany Hanavan trey to bring the game to a 48-28 tally.

The 20 point deficit was as close as Hollins would get as the Eagles pulled away late to win their home finale by a 72-44 margin at Nininger Hall.

Mullen knocked down a career-high 19 to lead the Eagles including a 3-for-5 outing from beyond the arc. Burkholder netted a dozen in limited action, while freshman Katelynn Hottinger recorded her second career double-double with 10 points and a team-high 11 boards.

Hollins was led by a 13 point effort from Jasmine Greene. Fellow guard Tamara Phillips also chipped in 12 points for the Hollins offense.

Bridgewater controlled the glass by a 54-to-30 tally, while also controlling the inside game, outscoring Hollins by a 32-to-12 margin.

The game also marked Senior Day for Bridgewater's lone senior Kristin Bosserman. Bosserman, who was unable to play in the game, heads into BC's final regular season game with 699 career points. 

Bridgewater wraps up the 2009-10 regular season tomorrow, Sunday, February 20, when the squad travels to Washington and Lee. Tip-off from Lexington is slated for 4:00 p.m.
