BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's lacrosse team could only muster four goals on 45 shots, in a 7-4 defeat to Marywood on Wednesday.

The Eagles outshot their opponents 45-24, but only put 19 of those attempts on target, and saw Marywood goalie Joe Magargal finish with 15 saves.

Tylden Mosby, Rob Simmons, Thomas Maher and defender Benjamin Vayer scored BC's goals.

Derrick Daniels and Lucas Clark added four ground balls each, as did goalie Michael Fairley. Fairley finished with 11 saves in the cage.

A tight game saw just one combined goal in the opening 29+ minutes of action, and no penalties called until the second half.

The Eagles nearly opened the scoring from 60 yards out. As Bridgewater looked to clear, Aaron Kiser noticed Magargal out of his goal and lofted a shot from his own half that skipped just wide of the open cage.

Magargal later made a good save up high to deny Blake Mann, and Marywood took the lead after exactly 10 minutes played as Matt Casto's shot deflected off an Eagle arm and into the net.

Daniels picked up a bad Pacer clear in the final seconds of the first quarter and fed Mann all alone in front of the goal, but the Eagles couldn't capitalize on the golden opportunity.

Magargal opened the second quarter with saves on Chris Voorhees and Daniels. Again the Eagles caused a turnover on the clear, this time forced by Voorhees, but Jeff Strickland was saved on the odd-man rush.

Fairley made a great save on Scott Slater later in the second quarter to keep the score at 1-0.

After over 29 minutes with just one goal, the sides exchanged points in a span of 39 seconds. Simmons tied it up for Bridgewater, but Slater scored with five seconds left after a Pacer timeout to keep the lead heading into halftime.

Dylan Swope scored from Slater's assist on a fast break in the third quarter to make it 3-1. Maher answered, but a tough sequence quickly had the Pacers up 5-2.

Swope scored following a Bridgewater slash, and Sam Trill added another on the ensuing man-up opportunity for a three-goal visitor advantage.

Vayer made it 5-3 with just two seconds left in the third quarter, picking up a ground ball and going down the field with the long pole just before time expired.

Swope finished with four goals and an assist. Slater assisted on three of those tallies. Preseason All-American Ryan Nowell finished with eight ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Bridgewater's Mic Grant was facing his former team, as the Eagles coach was in charge at Marywood from 2008-12. Grant amassed a record of 41-24 there, qualifying for the conference playoffs in each of those five seasons.

The Eagles fall to 4-3, and will conclude their seven-game homestand with the team's ODAC opener- Saturday at 2 p.m. vs. Virginia Wesleyan.
