Box Score 2 WASHINGTON D.C. - The Bridgewater College volleyball team split the doubleheader in day one of the Guetle Invitational hosted by the Catholic University of America to earn its first win of the season.
Held in Washington D.C., the Eagles went the distance with Wesley in a 3-2 (25-18, 20-25, 25-19, 20-25, 15-12) loss and turned around to sweep Marywood 3-0 (15-15, 21-25, 25-9).
The Eagles had two players score in double digits against Wesley. Sophomore Sarah Temple posted 10 kills and a block assist for 10.5 points and sophomore Carleigh Studtmann spearheaded the offense with 17 points on 13 kills and 6 block assists.
Sophomore Macon Frey did damage with 12 digs, seven assists and a service ace, while freshman Jenna Hamra also provided productivity behind 14 assists and nine digs.
In the second match of the doubleheader, senior Jette Wade paced the squad with 10 total points. Wade finished the evening with eight kills, two block assist and a solo block.
Freshman Danielle McKelvey notched nine kills and Hamra had a season-high 25 assists.
As a team, the Eagles had their best hitting percentage of the season at .242 and committed their least errors in a match with 16.
The young Eagles return to action tomorrow to wrap up the Guetle Invitational with matchups against Catholic (11 a.m.) and Marymount (Va.) (1 p.m.).
