LEXINGTON, VA.- The Bridgewater College outdoor men's and women's track and field teams competed in day one of the 2018 Washington and Lee Carnival on Friday.
The men had six top-ten finishes on the day.
On the track, in the 5000 meters, Jamie Hiegel had Bridgewater's top spot, finishing tenth overall with a time of 15:27.51. Robert Theimer was 22nd at 15:53.68 and Max Weidman was 27th at 15:57.50.
In field events, Prescott Terrell had a strong day. In the men's hammer, Terrell earned a second place finish with a mark of 49.42m (162' 1"). Chris Wolfgang finished 13th with a mark of 34.28m (112' 5").
Terrell also had another top-ten finish in the men's discus. Corey Huffman and Terrell had the seventh and eighth overall spots with marks of 38.61m (126' 8") and 37.70m (123' 8"), respectively.
In the men's high jump, Ryan Shepard finished in the top-ten at seventh overall with a mark of 1.79m (5' 10½"). John Gieseler finished 15th with a mark of 1.74m (5' 8½").
In the long jump, Brandon Christian finished fourth with a mark of 6.40m (21' 0").
On the women's side in field events, Felicia Clements finished second overall in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.53m (5' 0¼") and Gabrielle Morris was 13th with a mark of 1.38m ( 4' 6¼").
On the track in the women's 5000 meters, Jenna Rea finished first among Bridgewater's runners at 16th overall with a time of 19:14.38. Calista Ariel was two spots behind her at 18th with a time of 19:25.20 and Emily Young was 28th overall at 20:07.58.
