WEYERS CAVE, Va. - On Saturday the Bridgewater College IHSA Team hosted an unofficial tournament with Hollins, Ferrum, Lynchburg, Washington and Lee and Virginia Tech at the Bridgewater College Equestrian Center.
The Eagles won this season opener with 39 points, edging Hollins by one point. Washington and Lee and Lynchburg tied for third place with 27 points, followed by Virginia Tech with 23 points and Ferrum with 10.
Freshman rider Kelsey Quinn started the day with a second-place ride in Open Flat and a first-place effort in Open Fences
Eagles' sophomore Caroline Warren followed with a third on the flat and a win over fences in the Intermediate Division
Alison Segura, another freshman, was third in Limit Flat and fellow freshman Aidan Daly place fourth in the Limit Fences class.
Senior captain Cailyn Leo was second in the Novice Flat class
Senior Stephanie Hintze and sophmore Brittany Brooks were second and fourth respectively in the Pre-Novice Division
Closing out the day and needing a win to secure the top spot in the team standings, junior Walter Robb won the Introductory Division.
The IHSA team competes at W&L this Sunday at the Virginia Horse Center.
