Fulton Breaks School Record as Men Wrap Up North River Invitational

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's track and field team wrapped up the North River Meet on Saturday afternoon at the Jopson Athletic Complex.
The Eagles started the day with the hammer throw where Peter Fulton broke the school record yet again with a throw of 60.34 meters (197' 11") while grabbing first. Fulton moves to third in Division III and extends his overall lead in the South region.

Tony Nesselrodt finished third in the hammer throw with a mark of 48.12m (157' 10"). Caleb Palacios set a new personal best with a heave of 36.73m (120' 6") as did Ryan Duncan with a toss of 28.15m (92' 4").

In the Javelin throw, Aaron Moon notched a third-place finish with a toss of 46.85m (153' 8") setting a new personal best. Cy Alderman secured fifth in the event and set a new personal best with a mark of 44.17m (144' 11").

Euan Spikers finished the javelin throw with a toss of 41.67m (136' 8"). Palacios threw for 34.97m (114' 8") on the day while Da'Shawn Wilson finished with a mark of 32.57m (106' 10").

In the pits, Anthony Matthews finished the long jump with a leap of 5.89m (19' 4") grabbing a second-place finish.

Matthews finished the triple jump in first with a mark of 12.91m (42' 4¼"). Trey Birchett followed in second with a leap of 12.56m (41' 2½") setting a new personal best. Mason Lawhorne also set a personal best recording a jump of 11.92m (39' 1¼").

In the discus, Fulton placed first with a mark of 48.83m (160' 2"). Jake McNutt finished second with a heave of 41.03m (134' 7"). Bryce Hoffman tossed for a mark of 37.31m (122' 5") on the day. Nesselrodt recorded a mark of 32.36m (106' 2").

Aaron Moon secured first in the high jump with a leap of 1.87m (6' 1½") followed by Conner Mackey who recorded a mark of 1.83m (6' 0"). Lawhorne finished fourth with a height of 1.78m (5' 10") followed by Spikers who jumped the same height.

In the shot put, Nesselrodt finished fourth with a mark of 11.78m (38' 7¾"). Hoffman set a personal best with a toss of 10.92m (35' 10"). Birchett finished with a heave of 9.46m (31' 0½") and Duncan recorded a toss of 7.86m (25' 9½").

Easton Repko finished the pole vault with a heigh of 4.25m (13' 11¼").

On the track, Bennett Cupps finished third in the 1500m with a time of 4:09.10, while Gabriel Miller grabbed fourth running for a time of 4:24.28. Ethan Duncan set a new personal best finishing with a time of 4:28.23. Caleb Bradley ran for a time of 1:05.82 on the day.

In the 100m prelims Moon secured second, running for a time of 11.15 seconds, qualifying for the finals. BC alum and 100m record holder Davonta Womack finished fifth with a time 11.66 seconds, also qualifying for the finals.

Birchett set a new personal best in the 100m finishing with a time of 11.84 seconds as did Tyler Johnson who ran for a time of 12.19 seconds.

In the 100m finals, Womack placed fifth running for a time of 11.77 seconds.

Brandon D'Amour set a new personal best in the 110m hurdles running for a time of 19.04 seconds.

In the 400m run, Kaegan Avalos notched first with a time of 50.82 seconds. Alderman grabbed third running for a time of 53.47 seconds. Mackey followed behind in fourth with a time of 53.90 seconds while Ben Baker finished fifth running for a time of 56.43 seconds.

Bowen Varney secured a first-place finish in the 800m run finishing with a time of 2:00.92. Jack Donavan set a new personal best with a time of 2:06.35 notching fifth. Calvin Hulleman followed behind with a time of 2:11.44. Michael Toms ran for a time of 2:29.75 on the day.

Moon set a new personal best in the 400m hurdles finishing with a mark of 57.99 seconds as did Da'Shawn Wilson who finished with a time of 1:05.84.

In the 200m dash, Kyle Clanton set a new personal best running for a time of 22.10 seconds finishing first. Hulleman also set a new personal best with a time of 24.41 seconds as did D'Amour with a mark of 25.65 seconds.

In the 4x400m relay, the Eagles had three teams compete. The squad of Clanton, Wilson, Avalos and Birchett finished with a time of 3:28.10. Moon, Mackey Alderman and Johnson posted a time of 3:59.58. rounding things off, Varney, Donavan, Miller and Duncan ran for a time of 3:54.99.

The men's team finished first overall with 199 points followed by Shenandoah (183), Washington and lee (101) and Eastern Mennonite (79).

The Eagles return to action April 14, at the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic hosted by University of Lynchburg.
