Women's Cross Country Wraps Up Historic Season at NCAA Championships

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - On Saturday, Nov. 23 three Bridgewater College women's cross country runners took on the national stage at the 2024 NCAA championships hosted by Rose-Hulman.  

Senior Mackenzie Young led the Eagles as their top finisher among 290 total finishers placing 166th and running a time of 22:45.0 in the 6k race. 

Soon after, senior Emily Smeds came across the line with a strong time of 22:49.4 (177th). Then, the first year Taylor Myers stepped over the finish line rounding out the three national qualifiers for Bridgewater clocking a time of 22:54.7 (187th). 

Wilmington (Ohio) saw Faith Duncan place first overall individually, winning the NCAA cross country individual title. In the team scores, MIT would take home the 2024 NCAA Cross Country Championship trophy posting 128 points with two runners placing in the top-20.  

Bridgewater has much to be proud of from the season, taking with them incredible moments as well as having three national qualifiers for the most ever in program history while shattering personal records all season long.
