FOREST, Va. - The ODAC league office named Jade Buckles ODAC track athlete of the week Tuesday afternoon. Buckles earned her second consecutive weekly honor after her performances at the Robert Comstock Cardinal Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 17.
Buckles opened her weekend with a 7.82 second sprint in the 60-meter dash. The time was the second-best preliminary time at the meet, trailing Johns Hopkins' Chloe Zhang by one hundredth of a second. The Stafford, Va., native ran a 7.95 in the finals of the event, good for a fifth-place finish.
Buckles placed at the top of the leaderboard in the women's 200-meter dash, stopping the clock in 25.67.
Buckles finished her meet running the second leg of the women's 4x400 relay team. The Eagles finished third, with Buckles running her split in 33.45 seconds.
Buckles and the women's track and field team host the Shane Stevens Winter Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 24. This is the first of two indoor home events for the Eagles this season.
