LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's track and field team opened their 2026 indoor campaign Friday afternoon at the Burg Open, hosted by the University of Lynchburg.
BC recorded nine top-ten placements in field events. Senior Brianna Morgan placed on the podium in weight throw. Morgan's 13.70-meter performance was good for third. Junior Abby Mikolay placed fourth with a 13.58-meter performance. Sophomore Elizabeth Ramos finished sixth following a 12.36-meter performance. Junior Anna Dabaghyan's 11.77-meter throw was a personal best.
Mikolay, the reigning conference champion in shot put, threw 12.35 meters, claiming the top spot in the event. Emma Bobbitt finished eighth, stemming from a 9.49-meter performance.
Sophomores Olivia Crigger and Maddie Watson finished third and fourth, respectively, in triple jump. Crigger recorded a 10.72-meter jump. Watson put up a 10.52-meter performance, good for a personal best. Watson and Crigger also competed in the 60-meter hurdles. Watson recorded a 9.69, and Crigger recorded a 10.08, good for second and fourth respectively.
Junior Summer Wallace cleared 1.45-meters in the high jump, good for second place. Wallace podiumed in the 400-meter dash with a 1:00.44 performance and finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a 25.55.
Junior Kasi Showers placed inside the top ten in the 400-meter dash. Showers' 1:06.99 performance was a personal best.
Senior Jade Buckles placed first in the 60-meter dash, clocking a time of 7.80. Buckles was 0.03 seconds off her ODAC championship-winning performance last season. Buckles also claimed the top spot in the 200-meter dash with a 25.55 performance.
Freshman Arianna Jones made the 60-meter dash finals and placed eighth with a 8.39 performance. Jones also placed seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.15.
BC cross country standout Olivia Morra competed in the mile and the 800, placing inside the top ten in both events.
BC will travel to Landover, MD to compete in the Robert Comstock Cardinal Classic on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 10 a.m.
