MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - Abby Mikolay was the lone member of the Bridgewater College women's track and field team to compete at the Mount Olive Final Qualifier Saturday afternoon. Mikolay competed in the shot put and hammer throw and mustered impressive marks. 

Mikolay shattered the program record in the hammer throw twice. Mikolay first broke the previous record of 44.81 meters with an opening 47.09-meter throw. Mikolay followed with a 47.38-meter throw, her best of the day. Her best throw landed her fourth in the event. 

Mikolay followed with a second-place performance in shot put. Mikolay's top throw of 13.91 meters reset her program record set in 2024 and the conference record. The Waynesboro, Va. native placed herself well into the qualifying marks for the national championship meet, as she currently holds the eighth-best mark in division III.
