GREENSBORO, N.C. - Bridgewater College women's swimming posted record-breaking performances in day two action led by freshman Tessa Gorby at the ODAC championships at Greensboro Aquatic Center Thursday.
Tessa Gorby lit up the competition from the very beginning of the day. Gorby started out in prelims for the 50-yard freestyle to nail a program-record time of 23.75. Later in the A finals, Gorby topped the leaderboard and bested her previous school record for a time of 23.74.
At the finals, the 200-yard freestyle relay began the action in a strong way as Gorby, Mia Flory, Nelle Hines, and Whitney Speeks posted fourth for a time of 1:38.42; which set the new program best.
Then, Grace Warren earned herself a spot in A finals in the 500 free, finishing with a time of 5:17.16.
To close out the second day of competition, the women concluded action in record-breaking fashion. The 400-medley relay team of Warren, Peyton Lawrence, McKenna Curry, and Whitney Speeks clocked a scorching time of 3:59.59.
At the end of two, the women secured fifth place among 10 teams at the ODAC swimming championships.
Competition continues on day three on Friday, Feb. 13 in Greensboro.
