Saxton Joins Football Staff

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Bridgewater College Head Football Coach Scott Lemn has announced the addition of Kevin Saxton II to his coaching staff.

Saxton will serve as the Eagles' offensive coordinator and comes in with experience in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference as a player and coach during his time at Emory & Henry before their departure from the league.

Saxton began his playing career at Appalachian State before transferring to EHU after his freshman season. The North Carolina native was named the ODAC Rookie of the Year in 2014 after an impressive first season for Emory and Henry. After his playing career with the Wasps, Saxton joined the coaching staff at his alma mater and was there until the summer of 2021. Saxton then went back to coach at the high school level in his home state and returned to the college ranks a year later as the co-offensive coordinator at Benedict College.

Most recently, Saxton served as an offensive assistant for Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs. Working mainly with quarterbacks, Saxton has coached in a pair of Super Bowls, including coaching the Chiefs during the Super Bowl LVIII victory.

"I am ecstatic for the addition of Kevin Saxton II," said Lemn. "I've had the opportunity to coach against Kevin dating back to his time at Emory & Henry as both a player and a coach, and I couldn't be more excited to have him step in as our Offensive Coordinator. His experience spans multiple levels, highlighted by being part of a Super Bowl run with the Chiefs. Kevin is an outstanding leader, and we're thrilled to have him join our program."

Saxton will be the signal caller for an Eagles' offense that was in the middle of the ODAC last season in passing and one of the most efficient in the league in the red zone.
