LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Bridgewater College women's volleyball team received national votes to be ranked a top 25 team in the nation Tuesday afternoon released by AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association).
The Eagles have competed in seven matches thus far in the young season while only dropping one match to No. 7 Juniata, who also received a vote as the No. 1 team in the country this week.
Heading into the week, Bridgewater hosts Virginia State and Penn St. Harrisburg for the first home matches of the season.
Leading the way offensively for the Eagles has been first-year Maecy Ann Frizzelle and senior Reagan Stoop as they have combined for 139 kills, 33 service aces and 178.5 total points.
Defensively, sophomore Marlee Backover leads the team in digs with 80. Junior Agnes Alford has limited opponents' success in the attack, collecting 12 total blocks and four solo blocks on the season through seven matches.
Catch the Eagles in action this weekend at Nininger Hall beginning at 11 a.m. as they first face Penn St. Harrisburg and then Virginia State at 3 p.m.
