Bridgewater College dropped its second straight one-run game of
the weekend, losing Sunday at Christopher Newport, 8-7, in 10
innings.
The Eagles trailed 6-4 entering the ninth, but took the lead with
three runs. Mitchell Edwards tied the score with a two-run single
and Edwards scored the go-ahead run on a double by Mike Lenox,
giving BC a 7-6 lead.
A BC error in the bottom of the ninth, the Eagles fifth error of
the game, led to CNU's game-tying run.
The Captains won the game in the 10th on Trae Bailey's walk-off
homer.
Lenox was the only Bridgewater player with two hits and Jake Wade
added a solo homer.
John Sinclair gave the Eagles another solid start as he pitched six
innings, allowing four runs, two earned, on eight hits. He struck
out four and walked five.
The Eagles are now 2-3 on the season.
