Bridgewater College pounded the Washington and Lee pitching
staff for 20 hits Tuesday and defeated the Generals, 18-4, in ODAC
baseball action.
The Eagles broke the game open early with three runs in the third
and four more in the fourth.
Andrew Chrismer led off the third with a walk and Mike Lenox
followed with a homer for a 2-0 lead. Kevin Kirk singled, moved up
on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Mitchell Edwards to make
the score 3-0.
In the fourth, Brad Buracker and Tyler Hodges singled to open the
inning. Chrismer then put down a sacrifice bunt and a throwing
error on the play allowed two runs to score. Chrismer then scored
on a sacrifice fly by Lenox for a 6-0 BC lead. Kirk followed with a
double and scored on a single by Edwards to make the score 7-0.
Drew Elkins took advantage of the offensive support with seven
solid innings on the mound. Elkins allowed eight hits and just one
earned run to pick up the win.
Kirk was 4-for-4 to lead the BC offense. Buracker, Hodges, and
Edwards added three hits each and Lenox finished with four
RBIs.
The Eagles are now 10-12 overall and 4-4 in the ODAC. W&L drops
to 13-5, 4-3 in the ODAC.
