BRIDGEWATER, Va.- Bridgewater's
men's tennis team entered the day with an unscathed mark in
ODAC play, but dropped a conference showdown against the No. 24
Washington and Lee Generals by a 9-0 score at the BC Tennis Courts.
After doubles play, the Eagles found themselves in a 3-0 hole
against the 24th-ranked Generals. The tandem of Brad DeWitt and Tim
Gower turned in the closest doubles contest of the afternoon with
an 8-4 defeat at the hands of Cliff Gaddy and Jeremy Becht.
Freshman Peter Hawkins saw his first action at number one
singles of the year, but came up short in a 6-1, 6-1 defeat.
Hawkins now sits at 8-2 on the year.
Junior Teddy Callow turned in Bridgewater's closest match
in singles play with a 7-5, 6-2 loss at number three.
At number four singles, Brent Floyd saw his nine match winning
streak come to a halt with a 6-1, 6-1 loss.
Bridgewater is back in action tomorrow, Thursday, April 1 when
the team travels to Lynchburg. Tomorrow's matchup with the
Hornets is slated for a 3:00 p.m. start.
