DEMOREST, Ga. - The Adrian Bulldogs sent the
Bridgewater College Eagles to their fifth loss in six games with a
12-2 victory Tuesday.
The Bulldogs, ranked 11th in the Division III Preseason poll,
took an early lead with one run int the first and two in third.
The Eagles trimmed the Adrian lead to one, scoring both of their
runs in the top of the fifth. With one out, Brett Howell doubled
and then scored on Blake Stokely's triple to put the Eagles on the
scoreboard. Drew Elkins then singled to plate Stokely, making the
score 3-2.
The Bulldogs got those two runs back in the bottom of the inning
and then scored three more in the sxith to open up an 8-2 lead.
Adrian's David Partyka limited the Eagles to five hits in six
innings on the mound to pick up the victory. He struck out two and
did not walk a batter. Sean Hartman and Dan Welch finished up with
three scoreless innings in relief.
Elkins had two of Bridgewater's five hits.
In a schedule change, the Eagles will play Piedmont College on
Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. The game against Reinhardt has been moved
to Thursday with the game time still to be determined.
