ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - North Carolina Wesleyan College jumped on Bridgewater for three runs in the first and never trailed Sunday in a 9-1 victory over the Eagles.

The Bishops scored all their runs in the first inning with two outs. Casey Power delivered the big blow with a two-run homer.

Bishops' starter Kaleb Wessell carried a no-hitter into the fifth, but his gem was broken up by Alex Nuttycombe's single.

The Eagles avoided the shutout in the eighth when Derek Shifflett led off with a single and moved to second on a grounder before scoring on Brett Howell's single.

The Eagles, now, 2-1, on the season were limited to just four hits in Sunday's game.
