AVERETT, Va. – In a non-conference showdown against Averett College, Bridgewater mustered just one singles victory as the team fell by an 8-1 score to the host Cougars.

The Eagles dropped each doubles contest on the day, with the closest loss coming at number two in a 9-8 (7-5) defeat.

In singles play, Bridgewater dropped the first three matches, before Brent Floyd claimed the team's lone win of the day by a 6-1, 6-3 tally at number four.

The loss was Bridgewater's second straight defeat.

Bridgewater is back in action on Tuesday, March 22 against Southern Virginia.
