FERRUM, Va. - Freshmen pitchers Robert Gallet and Tyler Slanovec combined on a six-hit shutout Monday night to lead the Bridgewater College Eagles to a 4-0 victory over Ferrum College.

Gallet pitched six innings and allowed just two hits to run his record to 5-1 on the season. Slanovec pitched the final three innings, allowing four hits, to record his second save of the season.

The Eagles took the lead with a run in the fourth on a run-scoring single by Jay Thompson. Bridgewater added another run in the fifth when Alex Hogge singled, moved to third on a single by Bryan Sanderson and scored on a sacrifice fly by Kevin Kirk, making the score 2-0.

The Eagles added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth on Brett Howell's two-run double for the final 4-0 tally.

Thompson was 2-for-2 with a run scored and one run batted in. Sanderson finished 2-for-4 and Howell was also 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

The Eagles are now 21-15 on the season.
