LYNCHBURG, Va. - In an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's tennis matchup on the road at Lynchburg (3-9, 0-6 ODAC), the Bridgewater Eagles blanked the host Hornets by a 9-0 tally.
Bridgewater (5-5, 2-1 ODAC) got rolling with a sweep of doubles play. The tandem of Brandon Larsen and Evan Stack battled in the toughest match of the day but prevailed by an 8-6 score at number one doubles.
At number two doubles, the duo of Christian Lynn and Peter Hawkins earned a convincing 8-1 victory before the team of Brent Floyd and Mike Cable earned an 8-0 shutout win at number three to put the Eagles up by three matches after the conclusion of doubles play.
Hawkins opened singles action with an easy 6-1, 6-0 victory while Larsen rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 shutout win at number two.
Floyd kept things rolling at number three with a 6-0, 6-0 straight sets win before Stack rolled up a 6-1, 6-0 victory at number four.
Lynn was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at number five while sophomore Sam Churchill claimed a 6-1, 6-0 victory to round out the shutout win for the Eagles.
Bridgewater is back in action on Friday when Randolph comes to town. Start time against the WildCats is set for 3:30 p.m.
