BRUNSWICK, Ga. – After Saturday's match at N.C. Wesleyan was cancelled due to poor weather conditions, the Bridgewater Eagles men's tennis team took a match in singles and doubles play but fell on the road at Coastal Georgia by a 7-2 tally.
Freshman Evan Stack won Bridgewater's lone match at number four singles in a three-set thriller. Stack claimed a 4-6, 6-1, 13-7 victory to earn the Eagles' lone singles win.
At number one, junior Peter Hawkins fell by a 6-3, 7-5 tally, before freshman Brandon Larsen dropped a 6-4, 7-5 affair at number two.
Senior Brent Floyd fell by a 6-3, 6-4 margin at number three before Stack claimed the win at number four.
Freshman Christian Lynn dropped a tight three-set decision at number five. Lynn took the first set by a 6-4 score before dropping the last two sets by 6-3 and 10-3 scores.
Finally, sophomore Sam Churchill fell by a 6-2, 6-0 tally at number six to close out singles play.
In doubles action, the duo of Hawkins and Lynn picked up the lone doubles victory, claiming a tight 8-6 victory at number two.
The freshman tandem of Larsen and Stack fell by an 8-1 margin at number one, while Floyd and freshman teammate Mike Cable fell by an 8-0 tally at number three.
Bridgewater is in action on Monday when they open the PTR Spring TennisFest against Elizabethtown in Hilton Head, S.C. Action against the Blue Jays is set for an 8:30 a.m. start.
