HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Bridgewater College men's tennis team fell to a strong Denison team, 9-0, Thursday.
After sweeping doubles action, Denison won all six singles matches in straight sets.
Denison's Grant Veltman and Juan Guerra won a close match at No. 1 doubles, defeating Evan Stack and Brandon Larsen 8-6. Andrew Marczak and Casey Cempre downed Bridgewater's Christian Lynn and Mike Cable at No. 2 doubles and Jeffrey LoDuca and Shankar Rajupet stopped the Eagles Peter Hawkins and Sam Churchill 8-3.
Guerra defeated Hawkins 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and Cempre downed Stack 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2.
Veltman took a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 over Larsen and, in the closest singles match, Marczak slipped past Lynn 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 4 spot.
At No. 5, Cable lost 6-1, 6-0 to Graham Gettel and Rapujet turned back Churchill 6-2, 6-2 at th eNo. 6 slot.
