LYNCHBURG, Va. - Bridgewater College improved to 2-1 in ODAC play by blanking Randolph College, 9-0, Friday afternoon.
The Eagles dominated doubles play to take a 3-0 lead.
Evan Stack and Brandon Larsen defeated Daniil Lyalko and Dan Phung 8-1 at No. 1 doubles and the Eagles won the other two doubles contests without losing a game. Peter Hawkins and Sam Churchill defeated Zach Dales and Shaun Chop at No. 2 while Drew Hubble and Ben Bowles rolled to the win over Hart Gillespie and Samim Yaquby at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Hawkins rallied after losing the opening set to Lyalko 3-6 to take the next two sets 6-0, 6-0 to claim victory at No. 1 singles.
In the other five singles matches the Eagles lost a total of just eight games.
Larsen defeated Phung 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 and Churchill downed Chopp 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3.
Mike Cable turned back Dales 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 4 spot while Hubble defeated Gillespie 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5. Bowles completed sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles over Yaquby.
The Eagles, now 5-6 overall, return to action Saturday when they host Lynchburg College.
