BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's tennis team evened its overall record at 6-6 and improved to 3-1 in the ODAC with a 9-0 victory Saturday afternoon over Lynchburg College.
The Eagles jumped out to a quick lead by controlling the doubles matches.
Evan Stack and Brandon Larsen got the Eagles rolling with an 8-1 victory over Hyun Suk Lee and Blake Underwood at No. 1 doubles. Bridgewater's Christian Lynn and Mike Cable took an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles over Derek Kegerreis and Josh Johnson. Peter Hawkins and Sam Churchill completed the Eagles sweep with an 8-3 win over Matt Karvelas and Tyler Long at the No. 3 doubles position.
Hawkins started singles action with a 6-1, 7-6 win over Karvelas at the No. 1 slot. Hawkins won the second-set tiebreaker 7-5. At No. 2 singles, Larsen took a straight set 6-3, 6-0 victory over Kegerreis.
Stack took a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 over Johnson while Lynn blanked Underwood at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Cable turned back Long at No. 5 singles 6-2, 6-3 and Churchill stopped Lee 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 6 slot.
