GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Bridgewater College men's tennis team defeated the Guilford Quakers, 7-2, Saturday afternoon in ODAC action.
The Eagles led 2-1 at the end of doubles play after taking wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions.
Evan Stack and Brandon Larsen rolled past Erik Meiler and Charlie Smith, 8-2, at the No. 1 slot while Pater Hawkins and Sam Churchill defeated Ben Nelson and Byron Hamilton, 8-1, at No. 3.
Guilford salvaged one point when Trevor Cox and Turner Votipka slipped past Christian Lynn and Mike Cable by a score of 8-5 at No. 2 doubles.
The Eagles took wins in five of the six singles matches. The Eagles won the top four flights, all in straight sets.
At No 1, Hawkins stopped Votipka 6-3, 6-2 and Stack followed with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2 over Meiler.
Larsen rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 over Cox and Lynn downed Guilford's Mark Cheong 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 4 slot.
The Quakers picked up their lone singles point at No. 5 where Cable retired in the second set against Guilford John Brvenik. Brvenik won the opening set 6-3.
Churchill won his match at No. 6 as he defeated Guilford's Blake Brown 7-6, 6-4.
