BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's tennis team rolled to an 8-1 victory Sunday afternoon over Randolph-Macon College.
The Eagles swept the three doubles matches to take control of the match.
Brandon Larsen and Evan Stack slipped past Randolph-Macon's Connor Hoerr and Michael Baxter 8-6 at No. 1 doubles and Christian Lynn and Mike Cable won by the same score over John Adam and Richard Brock at NO. 2 doubles. At No. 3, Bridgewater's Peter Hawkins and Sam Churchill had an easier time defeating Jody Cox and Tom Lewis 8-2.
The Eagles won the first five singles matches, all in straight sets.
Hawkins defeated Hoerr 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 and Larsen rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles over Baxter. At No. 3, Stack stopped Adam 6-2, 6-4 and Lynn slipped past Ira Usry 6-4, 7-6 at the No. 4 singles flight. At No. 5 singles, Churchill took a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Cox.
The Yellow Jackets picked up their lone point at No. 6 singles where Lewis defeated Bridgewater's Ben Bowles.
